A lot of great voices this year. But the gents will start first.
10. Yuki Kaji
Roles this year: Shion (No. 6), Konekomaru Miwa (Ao no Exorcist), Shu Ouma (Guilty Crown), Yoh Takami (Deadman Wonderland)
I’m glad that Kaji got more main roles this year. But I think that next year, he’ll be overwhelmed by more upcoming main roles and probably might be following same thing as Kamiyan and Okamoto. BTW, why does he usually land on the wimpy roles?
9. Mamoru Miyano
Roles this year: Rintarou Okabe (Steins;Gate), Bishop (Phi Brain Kami no Puzzle), Tokiya Ichinose (Uta Prince)
Asides from playing the role of a pop idol, he’s more memorable as Mr. Mad Scientist, Rintarou Okabe. And it’s so cool~
8. Miyu Irino
Roles this year: Jinta Yadomi (Ano Hana), Makoto Kagami (Sacred Seven), Kayama (UN-GO)
Apparently like FukuJun, he seems to fade away from the spotlight. But he manages to hold on.
7. Takahiro Sakurai
Roles: Masakaki (C-Control), Yukiatsu Matsuyuki (Ano Hana), Luke Crossfield (Phi Brain Kami no Puzzle)
Last year, he did a handful of main roles. Now, he’s going behind the spotlight. Actually, I expected he was supposed to receive an award during the Seiyuu Awards 2011. But due to his reputation last 2006 (just google “Takahiro Sakurai plagiarism accident 2006”), it’s like all his efforts worth nothing.
6. Kouji Yusa
Roles this year: Yuri Petrov/Lunatic (Tiger & Bunny), Renzo Shima (Ao no Exorcist), Nurarihyon (Nurarihyon no Mago: Sennen Makyou)
Finally, Yucchi gets more roles but srsly, main roles is what we, fans, want. I hope that next year, he’ll get more.
5. Masakazu Morita
Roles this year: Barnaby J. Brooks Jr. (Tiger & Bunny), Keiji Maeda (Sengoku Basara: The Last Party), Bakuman (Kazuya Hiramura)
This year, I heard Morita in two old animes (Baccano and Sengoku Basara) before Tiger & Bunny. And when T&B came out, Morita plays a different role which is not similar to the other roles he played. Except that when Barnaby goes mad, he started to sound like Ichigo. Well, it’s a great thing Morita gets to do another role instead of staying there in that long-running shounen anime which might not end for decades.
4. Keiji Fujiwara
Roles this year: Shiro Fujimoto (Ao no Exorcist), Tadayoshi Kisaragi (Blood-C), Baron Kaidou (Phi Brain Kami no Puzzle), Jake Martinez (Tiger & Bunny)
Again, he’s rising up in which he plays two dads who end up dead and another megalomaniac with Magneto syndrome. Oh, he also did the voice of Leorio from Hunter X Hunter.
3. Daisuke Namikawa
Roles this year: Akutabe (Azazel-san), Prince Baka (Level E), Yu Narukami (Persona 4), Velvet Waver (Fate/zero)
I’m glad to hear his sexy deep voice again in Azazel-san. But he really pulls it off in Level E and, Persona 4. For the latter, I’m glad he gets to speak more instead of saying, “Persona!” in the games.
2. Nobuhiko Okamoto
Roles this year: Rin Okamuru (Ao no Exorcist), Ivan Karelin (Tiger & Bunny), Knight Kijima (Sacred Seven), Kenji Kido (Guilty Crown)
Like Kaji, he’s getting more roles this year. But then. it seems that he has too many main roles in his hands.
1. Hiroaki Hirata
Roles this year: Kotetsu T. Kaburagi (Tiger & Bunny)
No thanks to my Kotetsu bias, Hirata gets the top. Like Morita, I’m glad that he gets another role instead of staying in other long-running shounen show which might not end for decades. Of course, he’s also busy as Johnny Depp’s dubber most especially when the 4th Pirates of the Carribean movie came out this year.
Those who didn’t make it in the list:
*Hiroshi Kamiya (Mephisto of Ao no Exorcist, Beelzubel of Azazel-san)
-Unlike last year where he got a lot of main roles, this year, he’s on the back. Well, big stars need some rest for a while.
*Kazuya Nakai (Date Masamune of Sengoku Basara: The Last Party, Bon of Ao no Exorcist)
-Again, ever since I watched both Sengoku Basara animes, I’m completely in love with his voice. But mostly, the roles he played are hotblooded.
*Jun Fukuyama (Aoi Toori of Horizon, Yukio Okamura of Ao no Exorcist)
-I didn’t hear of him much from last year (except for Durarara). But ever since he became famous thanks to his role in Code Geass, he seems to fade away from the spotlight.
