ARE YOU READY GUYS? PUT YA GUNS ON! BECAUSE IT’S TIME TO PARTY ONE LAST TIME!
This movie is the sequel to the TV series’ 2nd season where we’re left with Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s defeat by Date Masamune. Now, Hideyoshi’s loyal subordinate, Mitsunari Ishida, vows revenge of Masamune while Tokugawa Ieyasu plans to reunite Japan through bonds. So, expect a lot of GAR action, ridiculous fighting, a giant hot pot and Masamune sprouting his usual ENGRISH 😀
Of course, we’re expected that this movie would be very similar to Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes (the third game of the franchise). But there are a lot of changes such as Mitsunari’s focus of revenge is Masamune instead of Ieyasu (In the game, Ieyasu is the one who killed Hideyoshi) and the absence of the other characters such as Saka Magoichi, Kuroda Kanbe and Tsuruhime (These three were from the 3rd game). Still, there are still some which are loyal to the game such as Shingen Takada, who got sick and has Yukimura take in charge of the army instead.
Anyway, by the end of the movie, nothing changes. The rivals are still kicking each others’ asses. Don’t ask why because it is BASARA. Don’t expect it to be completely accurate from the Sengoku Era history because historical accuracy is not what Sengoku Basara is all about. This movie caters to those who are fans of the franchise itself. So, if you’re expect some deep character development or plot, go watch another movie.
It’s so hilarious on how gg subs made the movie more entertaining with Masamune, speaking in a gangster tone among others. But it’s a bit bothersome when they, again, changed the name of Hideaki (That guy with the large hot pot) with Legatus 😛
To say goodbye to the anime adaptation of the Sengoku Basara franchise (which I hope it’s not), it’s time for some dancing samurai!
