Happy new year, everyone! It’s the year of the Water Snake! As usual, it’s time to check out which characters made its viewers remember for who they are. Ladies first, and then, the men!

1. Koto (Kyousogiga)

Yes, my no. 1 fav. female character for 2012 is someone from an OVA aired last year. It’s a good thing that the second set was aired this year and we’re given more background on the characters. I’ll admit: Koto is a headstrong girl who does have a soft spot in her heart.

2. Mei Misaki (Another)

Why I like her? Because she’s one of the few who gives a damn in preventing the dreaded curse bestowed on her class by letting herself exposed to the male lead. I mean, she’s not going to sit there and let everything pass.

3. Irisviel von Einzbern (Fate/zero)

She’s one of the few people who understand Kiritsugu’s situation….and probably, the only person who tries to keep him from falling down to despair. Unfortunately, she’s gone and Kiritsugu’s cursed for eternity.

4. Shinobu Oshino (Nisemonotagari)

I thought that she doesn’t do much in Bakemonotagari, except the last episodes. Now, I’m glad she gets to talk in the sequel and her laugh is so cute!

5. Watashi (Humanity has Declined)

Not possibly related to other Watashi from Tatami Galaxy. Unlike him, she’s the complete opposite. She’s pessimistic, cunning and has a lot of guts.

6. Karen Araragi (Nisemonotagari)

She’s sort of similar to her brother but more courageous than him with more spunk. And I like her song!

7. Nonoha Itou (Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle)

I’m supposed to put Ana here in this spot but I forgot that Ana’s a guy, so…yeah. She acted as the puzzle freaks’ sane support and knew what to do when they’re in trouble, most especially Kaitou.

8. Rui Hachiouji (Code:Breaker)

I actually like her in the manga! The anime ruined her character! In the manga, she’s the only person who sticks to Ogami despite being a danger to everyone. And not to mention, her backstory is one of my favorites next to the December 32 incident of Ogami and Sakura.

9. Coco (Tsuritama)

She’s loco like the other Koko. Plus, she’s an enjoyable character who likes to bring the joy around and really cares for the people around her.

10. Ritsuko Mukae (Sakamachi no Apollon)

Yeah, I know some people find her annoying. But for me, she’s not. Even though she’s conflicted on her romance, she still cares for her friends.

1. Kiritsugu Emiya (Fate/Zero)

I know someone in LJ is going to hate me for liking this guy. Kiritsugu is Urobuchi’s original tragic anti-hero who sees the cynical side of the world. Though his actions are deemed unethical, he’s aware of it and now, pays the price for all the things that he did. He’s a renegade with a few amounts of paragon.

2. Yuki Sanada (Tsuritama)

Well, he sort of reminds me of every SHAFT character played by Hiroshi Kamiya. I like his transformation from being a shy guy to a guy who cares for his friends.

3. Akira Agarkar Yamada (Tsuritama)

He’s an oddball and despite being a secret agent, he really cares for his friends. And to top it off, Sugitan plays his character the best.

4. Lucius Modestus (Thermae Romae)

Yeah, I know he’s not a bishounen XD. At least, his actor from the live-action is good looking. He’s no Julius Caesar but he does a lot of great discoveries.

5. Jin Kanzaki (Zetman)

The real Batman of the series. No, Kouga is not Batman. He’s an ass. Jin is the true Dark Knight who hides in the shadows and protects the innocent from threats.

6. Rook Banjou Crossfield (Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle)

Yeah, he’s the antagonist and at the same time, a messed-up kid who got indoctrinated by some wacko who is obssessed with puzzles. Yeah, I know some fans want the yandere one. But I like his yandere and post-indoctrinated sides.

7. Rei Oogami (Code:Breaker)

All right, some people think that this guy is like Edward Cullen. HE’S NOT EDWARD CULLEN, YOU BITCHES! This guy is a messed-up kid who has seven demons as his source of blue flames. He lost his arm and gets a new one from the Emperor devil kid, his brother is an asshole and he thinks that he killed a bunch of humans which ruined Sakura’s early childhood and other people who are like her. His “evil” attitude comes from his brother’s cruel treatment to him. He’s like Kiritsugu and the other anti-heroes. Now, do you think that sparkling vampire has this in his story?! NO! Srsly, the anime ruined his character.

8. Koyomi Araragi (Nisemonotagari)

He’s sort of like Watanuki except that he’s implacable, has perverted tendencies and snarks a lot. Plus, Kamiyan’s voice made me bias to include him here.

9. Masaomi Heike (Code:Breaker)

I don’t know which version should I like: the manga version or the anime version? I mean, yeah, both of these versions made him very cunning and perverted. But the anime version is like, woah, it’s like he really cares. Though in the manga, that part comes after later.

10. Yuu Narukami (Persona 4 The animation)

Let’s just say this is Persona 4’s version of Commander Shepard, Paragon-style. He has a lot of friends, helps a lot of people in need, is concerned of the mysteries around him and pretty much, the typical RPG player character who is a badass.
