Merry Christmas everyone! Well, even though the Blood-C movie didn’t came out by the end of this year, at least, I got another movie which occupies that spot. And despite my qualms for the animation, the story is decent.
You know, I was very indifferent when I first saw the character designs of Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. I mean, come on. This is it? What the hell, Production I.G.? You made great animation like Ghost in the Shell even though you made some sucky storylines like Guilty Crown. But this?
Anyway, seeing the 9 minute clip of the movie which I first saw in ANN is no different. The animation looks terrible. I don’t know but I think most of the skilled people of Production I.G. are much focused on working with Psycho-pass, Robotic; Notes and 009 Re:Cyborg. All of them have high production values (though, I haven’t seen Robotic;Notes yet LOL). So, I guess the guys in Production I.G., “So, we’re making an animated movie of a Western RPG/TPS? Ok, whatever.” I don’t think the Production I.G. staff would care about the animation quality of the movie as long as Funimation and Bioware would give the funds. I mean, the Mass Effect games aren’t exactly popular in Japan.
Srsly, Bioware, if you want to make an animated movie of your games, go to the studio who are responsible in making the Avatar franchise or make it a CGI movie like what Final Fantasy did. Or find a Japanese studio who are 100% dedicated in making a high quality movie. At least, Madhouse slowly learned their lesson after the 4 Marvel anime series with another home video of Iron Man coming up next year, thanks to the popularity of The Avengers in Japan. Really, Bioware, haven’t you learned your lesson from that Dragon Age movie?
BTW, check this review by Bamboo Dong. I don’t agree some of the points most especially on the animation. But as for the story, we’ll find out. Anyone who have played Mass Effect 3 knows how this story would end. Anyway, I would rather rent the movie instead unless you’re a diehard James Vega.
P.S.: If you’re still wondering about my review on Mass Effect 3, I’ll just make it when all the single-player DLCs are out and when everybody stopped bitching about the endings.
The October issue of B-LOG confirms that Yuka Saitou will play the voice of Haru Asagi, the heroine of the game. She played a lot of minor roles but secured a main role as Chizuru Akabe from Seitokai no Ichizon. I only heard her roles in two animes that I’ve watched (Shiki and Umineko) so, I guess her role as Haru will be another starting point of her career.
Oh, if you haven’t seen it yet, the PV of the OVA is out on the official site. And Annabel, who did the ED themes of the games, is going to do the OP for the OVA.
As promised, I’ll present the cast list of the secondary characters for the upcoming Hanayaka OVA. They’re still the same cast from the game.
Genichirou Miyanomori (current head and father of the Miyanomori brothers): Tomomichi Nishimura
-Veteran seiyuu who really fits the role of a scheming father XD BTW, he’s Coach Anzai of Slam Dunk and Col. Mardukas of Full Metal Panic.
Sanae Sumida (Tadashi’s mom): Akemi Obata
Not very well known. The only anime role listed is Chaos;Head
Toki Honjouin (Isami’s mom): Harumi Asai
Originally, Toki’s voice actress is 川上夏季. Unfortunately, I can’t find any info about her. So her new voice actress is someone who doesn’t have any main role but uses a pseudonym when she starred in Hentai OVAs =_=’
Shizuko Yasuda (Shigeru’s mom): Nami Aizawa
Unfortunately, I can’t find any info about her. The closest match that I could find is a gravure model =_= But I really don’t think that’s her.
Fumiko Ariyoshi (Susumu’s mom): Yuko Gibu
You probably recognize her as Akira Okudaira of Aoi Hana and Maon Sakurada of Tamayose. Seems to voice a lot of cute girls. Can’t consider if Susumu’s mom is cute XD
Yoshi Saeki (Hiroshi’s mom): Yuriko Fuchizaki
Well known for her role in Oh! My Goddess as Megumi Morisato, in Sakura Wars as Ri Kohran, in Revolutionary Girl Utena as Anthy Himemiya and in the Precure franchise as Moop.
Chiyuko Imura (Masashi’s mom): Akane Sanada
Not very popular. The only anime role listed is Inu x Boku SS.
Chitomi Egawa (Head maid of the Miyanomori household): Keiko Koumyouji
Has very few anime roles. That’s all.
Tae Sugimura (One of the maids in the Miyanomori household, senpai to Haru): Risa Asaki
Not much anime roles. But she did voice in a lot of games particularly in the visual novel Rewrite as Lucia Konohana.
Norio Tsukumoin (Head butler of the Miyanomori household): Norio Kobayashi
The only anime role listed is Hakuouki as Genzaburou Inoue. He also did some technical stuff too.
Kisuke Arita (Informant for the Miyanomori household): Yusuke Katagiri
No anime roles yet. But he did voice in some games.
Well, it was open last month. But it seems Anime News Network and Crunchyroll didn’t bother to update it. Dunno why but maybe there’s “too preoccupied”. And it turns out it will be 2-episode OVA! I guess it’s way better than a TV animated series. The first OVA will be released this year while the second OVA will be released next year.
The site only feature the staff and cast list. The director of the OVA will be Naoyuki Kuzuya and the screenplay will be written by Deko Akao. The animation studio is “Team KG, Anpro”. I never heard of them before or what are their works.
The cast from the game will reprise their roles in this OVA. You can check who voice the Miyanomori brothers. I’ll probably update who are cast for the secondary characters if I have time. As for the voice actress for the heroine, IDK. Srsly, they put the heroine on the promo art and didn’t announce who will be her voice actress?! Or maybe, they’re still searching for one?
For Arcana Famiglia, they still get the same voice cast from the game and it’s animated by J.C. Staff. Now, the female lead will be voiced by Mamiko Noto (Enma Ai of Jigoku Shoujo, Sawako Kuronuma of Kimi no Todoke). The game is also action-based which is cool. BTW, this will be shown on Summer 2012.
For Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku, they just only announced that there will be anime version. I just hope that the voice cast from the game will return. But yeah, more main roles for Nobuhiko Okamoto. Now, I’m curious on who will voice the female lead and which anime studio will be charge here. Please do not let Studio Deen take in charge of this. I know that they did some great anime like Jigoku Shoujo, Rurouni Kenshin, You’re Under Arrest and Zipang. Most of their anime have BAD quality. Please don’t let this studio destroy this game!
I just hope that these shows will have the best directors and writers. Please don’t let Chiaki Kon direct any of those two. She already destroyed the anime adaptation of Umineko!!! 😡 Also, please focus more on the plot and characters and not on the fanservice and other useless stuff. Oh, and do not make the female leads become useless.
I thank Rin (of Love-colored Sky blog) and domshiki (of 4 Shiki blog) for the hilarious reviews of the game. It really made me wanna play this game even though I have no PSP T_T. On second thought, someone said that there’s a program where in you can play PSP games on PC. Hmm…
Anyway, I’ll bring on the cast of this game:
Tadashi Miyanomori (the eldest guy with the glasses): Atsushi Miyauchi
-I only knew two roles of him: Kuse the teleporting soldier from Night Raid and Daiju Mononobe from Eden of the East. Oh and he played a minor role in Tatami Galaxy as the cat ramen cart owner. I check his blog and he’s a smoker. I know that smoking can change the quality of your voice but whoa, this guy has a sexy voice. I’m confused with his voice to Hiroaki Hirata because they almost sound alike.
Isami Miyanomori (the 2nd elder brother in that hot military uniform): Hideki Tasaka
-I also knew two roles only: Takuro Sakibaba from Persona- trinity soul- and Duero McFile from Vandread. He does have a couple of main roles in the past but recently, not much.
Shigeru Miyanomori (the 3rd brother who crossdress, jk): Takeshi Maeda
-My, my, why isn’t it Mr. R from Kichiku Megane. Don’t worry he’s not a perv like him. But his mannerisms were a bit like Mr. R.
Susumu Miyanomori (the 4th brother who is a police officer): Atsushi Kakehashi
-this guy is srsly a nobody. Check his list and he doesn’t have any main role and full of supporting/minor roles. That’s sad.
Hiroshi Miyanomori (the 5th brother who likes inventing):Daisuke Kishio
-Srsly, you know who he is. Vampire Knight? Durarara? Letter Bee? Zoids?
Masashi Miyanomori (the 6th brother who is a girly tsundere): Nobuhiko Okamoto
-Again, you srsly know who he is. If you don’t, then guess who is Accelerator in Toaru Majutsu no Index? Or Tohru Mutou in Shiki?
This is an otome game (which means that you play as a girl who will be paired with a harem of bishies!). So, honestly, I haven’t played an otome game yet. I’m really want to play Starry Sky and Hakuouki but time fails me. And now I have to be very dependent on its anime adaptations.
Now back to this game, I’ve read in the synopsis that the player character is Asaki Haru, who came from a poor family and is employed as a maid for the Miyanomori family in the Taisho Era. Wow, Taisho Era, my favorite Japanese era next to Showa Era if only it’s not stained by WWII and ultra-nationalism. Anyway, the family has 6 hot sons who were all possible heirs for the clan.
This game is only available in PSP which is a bummer to those who don’t have PSP (like me).
Anyway, onto the characters:
From left to right (standing): Susumu, Hiroshi, Masashi, Shigeru, Tadashi, Isami
Seated: The father of the six sons
(info from Ljjakaca’s blog)
Tadashi (34 years old): The oldest son, Tadashi always assumed that he’d inherit control of the Miyanomori concern, and he has a tendency to look down on others. He’s in charge of the family’s banking business, and is a workaholic.
Isami (31 years old): Isami has a high rank in the military, and only cares about his country. He thinks that if you’re not increasing the power of Japan, you’re useless.
Shigeru (26 years old): As opposed to his older brothers, Shigeru hates rules and being controlled, and loves freedom. Though he’s part of a huge
zaibatsu, apparently he’s been seen performing in the city’s entertainment district.
Susumu (22 years old): As a police officer, he has a strong sense of duty and morals. He strongly respects his brothers and family.
Hiroshi (18 years old): Curious about everything, Hiroshi’s hobby is invention. He’s very friendly and often chats with Haru.
Masashi (16 years old): Masashi is immature and childish – he only does what what he wants to, and dislikes anyone who disobeys him. Sometimes he also shows a cruel side.
Damn, I’m already picking out my favorites here: Tadashi, Isami and Susumu. Idk, probably the suits made the additional points.
