I’ll be honest. I haven’t seen the trailer yet because Funimation only let people in North America view it! 😡 So, I have no idea what the English dub sounds like! Anyway, seeing the cast, I barely know them except for Todd Haberkorn.
- Saya Kisaragi- Alexis Tipton
-Known as Kaori (Shiki), Yomi (Ga-Rei Zero), Moka (Rosario + Vampire). I can’t find a voice sample. But I found an interview of her and she’s really like Nana Mizuki, personality-wise. I wonder if the dubs are going to keep the singing….
- Fumito Nanahara- Robert McCollum
-Known as Date Masamune (Sengoku Basara) and Axton (Borderlands 2)! OMG! O_O This guy is going to voice this sick bastard?! Yeah, I know this guy is very talented. You can hear his voice sample from Borderlands 2 (skip to 1:10 since the first minutes are grunts of pain XD). Of course, Fumito is not going to sound like Axton or Masamune. Can’t imagine him saying, “You fellas meet the missus?” or “PUT YA GUNS ON!”
- Tadayoshi Kisaragi- Bill Jenkins
-Known as Keel (Rebuild of Evangelion movies). Don’t know what he sounds like. But the weird thing is that he’s already listed to play as Tadayoshi before the official announcement.
- Yuka Amino- Martha Harms
-Known as Jennifer Sato ([C]) and Maya (Borderlands 2). Another familiar voice! She really fits as Yuka who has some spunk. You can listen to her voice sample from Borderlands 2.
- Shinchirou Tokizane- Scott Freeman
-Known as England (Hetalia) and Masakaki ([C]). Really fits the description after hearing his voice.
- Itsuki Tomofusa- Chris Burnett
-Known as Romeo (Romeo x Juliet) and Toru (Shiki). Again, he fits the role.
- Nene and Nono Motoe- Lindsay Seidel
-Known as Ruka (Steins; Gate) and Shion (Darker than Black Season 2). She also starred in some horror teen webseries called Throwing Stones. Hmm, maybe her acting from that show would really fit here.
- Kanako Tsutsutori- Lydia Mackay
-Known as Caterina (Trinity Blood) and Trisha Elric (both version of Fullmetal Alchemist). I tried looking for her voice sample in youtube but there’s none.
- Dog- Todd Haberkorn
-No further comments! I knew Funimation wouldn’t failed us in getting Watanuki’s voice actor to play the role of the Dog! XD XD
Anyway, these guys better act perfectly in this anime. They didn’t announce the cast for the movie yet obviously. But I have made a list of those who are possible to be in the movie…..one of it is Troy Baker 🙂
The October issue of B-LOG confirms that Yuka Saitou will play the voice of Haru Asagi, the heroine of the game. She played a lot of minor roles but secured a main role as Chizuru Akabe from Seitokai no Ichizon. I only heard her roles in two animes that I’ve watched (Shiki and Umineko) so, I guess her role as Haru will be another starting point of her career.
Oh, if you haven’t seen it yet, the PV of the OVA is out on the official site. And Annabel, who did the ED themes of the games, is going to do the OP for the OVA.
A few months ago, I made a quick review on Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto. And last May, Sentai Filmworks licensed this 2006 show. I was surprised why they did that just now in 2012. But I guess it’s just for marketing purposes. I don’t know how popular was this show when it was still airing in Japan. I remember reading some posts from psgels that the fansubs were released irregularly. But anyway, Fandom Post did a guessing game in their forums for the English dub cast. The results are out.
- Yojirou Akizuki- Houston Hayes
-I have no idea who this guy is. Yeah, he did voice one minor character in Night Raid 1931 but since that character has little importance to the series, I forgot what his voice sounds like. He has very few roles and doesn’t have an imdb page yet! Well, he has a Twitter account XD
- Kakunojo Yuyama- Emily Neves
-Known for playing the voice of Angel / Kanade Tachibana from Angel Beats and Kotomi Ichinose of CLANNAD. You can listen to her as Kotomi here. Surprisingly, this girl happens to be a semi-finalist of American Idol Season 4. Hmm…I have a hard time imagining how she will Kakunojo’s kabuki acting.
- Ibaragi Sotetsu- Illich Guardiola
-Known for his roles as Sha Goyjo (Saiyuki), Hayate (Pretear) and that bastard, Shido (Highschool of the Dead). Well, he fits this role.
- Kanna Sakyōnosuke – Clint Bickham
-Known for his roles as Finland (Hetalia) and Kazuma Mikura (Air). I don’t know how he sounds like and I would care less since Kanna didn’t do much in the anime except attack Akizuki
Cast for the RL Historical Figures
- Kaishuu Katsu- David Wald
-I already listened to his voice in Night Raid 1931. I’ll just say that he fits for this role since Katsu merely acts as an observer.
- Ryoma Sakamoto- Andrew Love
-Heard him also in Night Raid 1931. Well, again, he fits because he changed Akizuki’s life and pretty much, his death made an impact to him.
It’s a bit odd that they didn’t mentioned who will voice Toshizou Hijikata, Takeaki Enomoto and Tetsunosuke Ichimura because they’re also important characters. But since they’ll appear in the second half (except for Enomoto), I guess that announcement will come sooner.
I’ll not bother commenting on the supporting cast since they don’t do much in the series most especially, those two kids in Kakunojo’s acting troupe. So, I’ll just list them down.
Yuyama acting troupe and supporters cast:
- Shiranui Kozo – David Matranga
- Kotoha – Carli Mosier
- Ebisu no Zukin – Greg Ayres
- Kakashi no Keishin – Steve Fenley
- Zagashira – Carl Masterson
- Benimaru – newcomer Kalin Coates
- Kobako – Brittney Karbowski
Antagonists for the first half cast:
- Nakaiya Jūbē – John Swasey
- Hario Genba – George Manley
- Saiga Magozō – Christopher Ayres
- Koma no Shōten-sama – John Kaiser
- H.S. Parkes – Brett Weaver
- T.B. Glover – Scotty Fults
Anyways, I’ll try watching the English dub on September.
Well, whether you like it or not. Funimation licensed the Blood-C franchise.
Considering that it got a lot of negative reception when it was still airing, I don’t know how it will sell well. The TV series got a lot of bashing but the movie seems to get positive feedbacks…from the Japanese viewers only. But I guess the viewing experience will be completely different. For the movie, idk. But it is best not to get your expectations really high. Otherwise, you’ll be disappointed.
For those who like the franchise, well, it’s a blessing. But for those who hate it, well, as I said, you don’t like it, don’t buy it! Anyway, since it will be released next year, I’ll start imagining who will be the cast.
Even though the movie is now showing in Japan and about to be shown in Montreal, Canada next month, a new 3-minute PV is released. BTW, it’s a little NSFW.
Well, for those who didn’t finish the TV series (or just dropped), this PV is a bit spoileriffic. And it’s official that Watanuki made an appearance here. Anyway, those living in Montreal are lucky to watch the film firsthand.
BTW, here’s another radio drama (limited edition). It’s actually a parody where Saya is a magical girl XD
Here’s the latest magazine scan of the movie
Basically, the picture says “Saya wants to cut Fumito into bread for smelling her hair” XD. But Saya’s face looks a little weird XD
BTW, Shochiku channel posted a short radio drama of the movie which features Fumito and Kutou, Fumito’s right-hand man and elite guard, voiced by Junichi Suwabe. I think this took place before the movie. So, in short, Fumito informs Kutou, who is busy training, that Saya will be arriving the city and they must prepare. After Fumito left, Kutou wonders why Fumito is so interested in Saya but still, he wants to defeat her. Update: the video is already set in private just before the second radio drama is out.
Update: There’s also another video which feature Fumito and Yuuka Amino, who is one of the surviving characters from the TV series and is now pursuing her political careers. Nothing important in this conversation because they all talk about world domination and power but they’re aware that Saya is coming to Tokyo. By the sound of it, Yuuka doesn’t seem to be worried about it, granted that she’s only pretends to be Saya’s friend. But Fumito assures that he’s getting ready for Saya’s return. Update: the video is already set in private
If you guys have some doubts on Blood-C: The Last Dark, no thanks to a certain critic, then, you’ll noticed that the movie actually reached the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. Also, the Japanese moviergoers gave it a thumbs-up though, like I said, some were not satisfied on how the movie ended. Also, due to popular demand and the success of the movie, the original Blood: The Last Vampire will be screened again in theaters while Blood-C: The Last Dark is still showing. I guess that critic is wrong about that. I guess there’s a possibility that we’ll see more of the Blood franchise in the future.
As promised, I’ll present the cast list of the secondary characters for the upcoming Hanayaka OVA. They’re still the same cast from the game.
Genichirou Miyanomori (current head and father of the Miyanomori brothers): Tomomichi Nishimura
-Veteran seiyuu who really fits the role of a scheming father XD BTW, he’s Coach Anzai of Slam Dunk and Col. Mardukas of Full Metal Panic.
Sanae Sumida (Tadashi’s mom): Akemi Obata
Not very well known. The only anime role listed is Chaos;Head
Toki Honjouin (Isami’s mom): Harumi Asai
Originally, Toki’s voice actress is 川上夏季. Unfortunately, I can’t find any info about her. So her new voice actress is someone who doesn’t have any main role but uses a pseudonym when she starred in Hentai OVAs =_=’
Shizuko Yasuda (Shigeru’s mom): Nami Aizawa
Unfortunately, I can’t find any info about her. The closest match that I could find is a gravure model =_= But I really don’t think that’s her.
Fumiko Ariyoshi (Susumu’s mom): Yuko Gibu
You probably recognize her as Akira Okudaira of Aoi Hana and Maon Sakurada of Tamayose. Seems to voice a lot of cute girls. Can’t consider if Susumu’s mom is cute XD
Yoshi Saeki (Hiroshi’s mom): Yuriko Fuchizaki
Well known for her role in Oh! My Goddess as Megumi Morisato, in Sakura Wars as Ri Kohran, in Revolutionary Girl Utena as Anthy Himemiya and in the Precure franchise as Moop.
Chiyuko Imura (Masashi’s mom): Akane Sanada
Not very popular. The only anime role listed is Inu x Boku SS.
Chitomi Egawa (Head maid of the Miyanomori household): Keiko Koumyouji
Has very few anime roles. That’s all.
Tae Sugimura (One of the maids in the Miyanomori household, senpai to Haru): Risa Asaki
Not much anime roles. But she did voice in a lot of games particularly in the visual novel Rewrite as Lucia Konohana.
Norio Tsukumoin (Head butler of the Miyanomori household): Norio Kobayashi
The only anime role listed is Hakuouki as Genzaburou Inoue. He also did some technical stuff too.
Kisuke Arita (Informant for the Miyanomori household): Yusuke Katagiri
No anime roles yet. But he did voice in some games.
Whoa, it’s really a big surprise that Yahoo Movies JP streamed the first 8 minutes of Blood-C: The Last Dark. But, yeah, the quality is so bad, it’s like we (who lived outside Japan) need to wait for the BD release. Still, this really makes me excited. BTW, I made a short summary if you can’t watch it in case they decided to region-lock it. But somehow I managed to watch it. Idk if that clip will still be available before the movie officially airs.
There’s gonna be a special edition of the TV series which will recap the events from the series including some unseen footages which were not previously aired on TV. The scenes will act as a prelude to the movie.
Another trailer is out and surprisingly, Watanuki (no, not his dog form) appears! Wow, I didn’t expect a CLAMP character to enter into the Blood franchise. XD
