Once again, there are new seiyuus coming and they’re in the shows which I didn’t watched. And again, I like how the veteran seiyuus are coming back just for old times’ sake
Comparing to the past years’ lists to 2013, there are lot of changes. Some of those who stick around for the three years tend to fall back and give way for the newcomers. But, just like last year, some of the veteran seiyuus are back.
In case you didn’t notice, the English dub of Blood-C is out on the webs. I’ll not tell you where I found it (Google is your friend, guys) and no, I didn’t watch this in Fumination because I’m not in North America. And to save myself of seeing the agony of watching the whole series, I only watched a few selected episodes.
If you guys are asking about the singing, it’s in dub too! Alexis Tipston really did a remarkable job as the moe!Saya. But as for the stoic!Saya….it’s a bit problematic. I was wondering what she sounds like in the movie most especially when she screams Fumito’s name.
Robert McCollum is as brilliant as fuck. This guy is really talented. Guess they should hire him for more creepy villain roles. I mean, the last part of episode 12 is really awesome where he’s like flipping the middle finger on Saya!
Wow, Martha Harms is awesome here too! She’s like a “what the fuck is wrong here?” and then she became her usual and domineering self.
Lindsay Seindel did a good job here with the twin factor just like Misato Fukuen.
Chris Burnett sounds like an everyday guy instead of what Atsushi Abe envisioned: “the strong high-school rep” and Scott Freeman is okay as Tokizane as well as Lydia Mackay when she played as Kanako.
But Bill Jenkins……uhm, he sounds like a typical English man and IMO, him playing as Tadayoshi really doesn’t fit.
And Todd Haberkorn is still awesome as WataInu.
Overall, the English dub is quite good with some exceptions.
I’ll be honest. I haven’t seen the trailer yet because Funimation only let people in North America view it! 😡 So, I have no idea what the English dub sounds like! Anyway, seeing the cast, I barely know them except for Todd Haberkorn.
- Saya Kisaragi- Alexis Tipton
-Known as Kaori (Shiki), Yomi (Ga-Rei Zero), Moka (Rosario + Vampire). I can’t find a voice sample. But I found an interview of her and she’s really like Nana Mizuki, personality-wise. I wonder if the dubs are going to keep the singing….
- Fumito Nanahara- Robert McCollum
-Known as Date Masamune (Sengoku Basara) and Axton (Borderlands 2)! OMG! O_O This guy is going to voice this sick bastard?! Yeah, I know this guy is very talented. You can hear his voice sample from Borderlands 2 (skip to 1:10 since the first minutes are grunts of pain XD). Of course, Fumito is not going to sound like Axton or Masamune. Can’t imagine him saying, “You fellas meet the missus?” or “PUT YA GUNS ON!”
- Tadayoshi Kisaragi- Bill Jenkins
-Known as Keel (Rebuild of Evangelion movies). Don’t know what he sounds like. But the weird thing is that he’s already listed to play as Tadayoshi before the official announcement.
- Yuka Amino- Martha Harms
-Known as Jennifer Sato ([C]) and Maya (Borderlands 2). Another familiar voice! She really fits as Yuka who has some spunk. You can listen to her voice sample from Borderlands 2.
- Shinchirou Tokizane- Scott Freeman
-Known as England (Hetalia) and Masakaki ([C]). Really fits the description after hearing his voice.
- Itsuki Tomofusa- Chris Burnett
-Known as Romeo (Romeo x Juliet) and Toru (Shiki). Again, he fits the role.
- Nene and Nono Motoe- Lindsay Seidel
-Known as Ruka (Steins; Gate) and Shion (Darker than Black Season 2). She also starred in some horror teen webseries called Throwing Stones. Hmm, maybe her acting from that show would really fit here.
- Kanako Tsutsutori- Lydia Mackay
-Known as Caterina (Trinity Blood) and Trisha Elric (both version of Fullmetal Alchemist). I tried looking for her voice sample in youtube but there’s none.
- Dog- Todd Haberkorn
-No further comments! I knew Funimation wouldn’t failed us in getting Watanuki’s voice actor to play the role of the Dog! XD XD
Anyway, these guys better act perfectly in this anime. They didn’t announce the cast for the movie yet obviously. But I have made a list of those who are possible to be in the movie…..one of it is Troy Baker 🙂
The October issue of B-LOG confirms that Yuka Saitou will play the voice of Haru Asagi, the heroine of the game. She played a lot of minor roles but secured a main role as Chizuru Akabe from Seitokai no Ichizon. I only heard her roles in two animes that I’ve watched (Shiki and Umineko) so, I guess her role as Haru will be another starting point of her career.
Oh, if you haven’t seen it yet, the PV of the OVA is out on the official site. And Annabel, who did the ED themes of the games, is going to do the OP for the OVA.
A few months ago, I made a quick review on Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto. And last May, Sentai Filmworks licensed this 2006 show. I was surprised why they did that just now in 2012. But I guess it’s just for marketing purposes. I don’t know how popular was this show when it was still airing in Japan. I remember reading some posts from psgels that the fansubs were released irregularly. But anyway, Fandom Post did a guessing game in their forums for the English dub cast. The results are out.
- Yojirou Akizuki- Houston Hayes
-I have no idea who this guy is. Yeah, he did voice one minor character in Night Raid 1931 but since that character has little importance to the series, I forgot what his voice sounds like. He has very few roles and doesn’t have an imdb page yet! Well, he has a Twitter account XD
- Kakunojo Yuyama- Emily Neves
-Known for playing the voice of Angel / Kanade Tachibana from Angel Beats and Kotomi Ichinose of CLANNAD. You can listen to her as Kotomi here. Surprisingly, this girl happens to be a semi-finalist of American Idol Season 4. Hmm…I have a hard time imagining how she will Kakunojo’s kabuki acting.
- Ibaragi Sotetsu- Illich Guardiola
-Known for his roles as Sha Goyjo (Saiyuki), Hayate (Pretear) and that bastard, Shido (Highschool of the Dead). Well, he fits this role.
- Kanna Sakyōnosuke – Clint Bickham
-Known for his roles as Finland (Hetalia) and Kazuma Mikura (Air). I don’t know how he sounds like and I would care less since Kanna didn’t do much in the anime except attack Akizuki
Cast for the RL Historical Figures
- Kaishuu Katsu- David Wald
-I already listened to his voice in Night Raid 1931. I’ll just say that he fits for this role since Katsu merely acts as an observer.
- Ryoma Sakamoto- Andrew Love
-Heard him also in Night Raid 1931. Well, again, he fits because he changed Akizuki’s life and pretty much, his death made an impact to him.
It’s a bit odd that they didn’t mentioned who will voice Toshizou Hijikata, Takeaki Enomoto and Tetsunosuke Ichimura because they’re also important characters. But since they’ll appear in the second half (except for Enomoto), I guess that announcement will come sooner.
I’ll not bother commenting on the supporting cast since they don’t do much in the series most especially, those two kids in Kakunojo’s acting troupe. So, I’ll just list them down.
Yuyama acting troupe and supporters cast:
- Shiranui Kozo – David Matranga
- Kotoha – Carli Mosier
- Ebisu no Zukin – Greg Ayres
- Kakashi no Keishin – Steve Fenley
- Zagashira – Carl Masterson
- Benimaru – newcomer Kalin Coates
- Kobako – Brittney Karbowski
Antagonists for the first half cast:
- Nakaiya Jūbē – John Swasey
- Hario Genba – George Manley
- Saiga Magozō – Christopher Ayres
- Koma no Shōten-sama – John Kaiser
- H.S. Parkes – Brett Weaver
- T.B. Glover – Scotty Fults
Anyways, I’ll try watching the English dub on September.
Here goes nothing.
